Appreciation of your Restaurant and Service at Catharina’s

I have been on holiday in Cape Town over the past fortnight to visit family. We visited your restaurant and returned several times. I would like to express my gratitude to your staff, and in particular to Eddie he seemed to be the “front person” and really made each of our visits the success they were.
The food was outstanding; the quality of the fresh fish dishes was memorable. I always look for restaurants which can offer me cuisine which is better than I am able to prepare myself, and Catharina’s excelled. The chef was particularly patient and went to the trouble of allowing us to “share dishes” which made the visit all that more memorable.
And it almost goes without saying that the setting of the restaurant was just exquisite! What more could one want on a wonderful Cape day, than to sit in the precinct of your restaurant with the open lawns, and appreciating the attentive service provided.
Thank you for a wonderful experience, and very best wishes to the Eddie for his contribution to our experience.

“We only came for lunch, but loved it so much, we booked into the hotel !”

We initially booked for lunch, and sat outside under the trees on a lovely sunny day. The food and wine were excellent, and we just fell in love with the tranquility and history of this place. We talked about coming back next year to stay, but then decided we would see if they could fit us in this holiday!
Our room was just above the reception area, and was perfect. The staff and service were great. Theres a small pool with a bar, which was lovely to just relax and read. The restaurant for dinner was excellent. The weather turned and it was pouring with rain, but we still had a great time.
Theres a complimentary wine tasting, which we did the following morning. We then found that theres a bistro restaurant as well on the estate, which was completely different, and looked really interesting.
Before our visit, we had thought that there wasnt enough to occupy us for more than a couple of days on a wine estate. We've changed our view ! We didnt want to leave.

We stayed for 2 weeks and found the hotel truly outstanding. The staff are very well trained, and always very very helpful.The shuttle service around the area is an added plus.

My wife and I joined another couple for a week-long visit preparatory to joining other friends on safari. It was the first trip to South Africa for all of us. Steenberg was so absolutely perfect that we didn't want to leave for the safari! The accommodations were first class, and the food was exceptional. Of course, the wine wasn't bad, either! And we should know; we drank our share!
The staff was attentive, gracious and willing to do whatever it takes to make you feel welcome and at home. We quickly came to think of them as old friends and family.
We enjoyed our visit so much that we are planning a return visit, sans safari, with the same friends and some additional ones.

“Beyond Our Expectations!”

We spent several days in CapeTown and stayed at the Steenberg Hotel. The hotel reminds us more of a grand estate than a typical hotel. The staff is excellent and the restaurant is superb. The Steenberg Hotel is situated in a most beautiful and unique setting. If one is looking for a special hotel to stay in Cape Town, the Steenberg is the answer. It certainly merits all the awards and accolades it has received.

Coming back to my birth country after many, many years ,the Steenberg Hotel was the perfect choice to start a sentimental journey. Everybody at the Steenberg made me feel at home in this wonderful country. I thoroughly enjoyed the setting, the accomodation, the food and wine, the spa as well as the the beautiful golf course. After a personal loss I was able to relax and get pampered. Thank you very much! I will definitely come back to the Steenberg.,

We recently stayed for four nights at the Steenberg after having spent many years at other top Cape Town hotels. By far the best service, quality of rooms, friendly staff and wonderful position.
