Steilacoom, Washington, Stayed June 2011, travelled as a couple
We spent five nights at the world-class Steenberg Hotel to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. It was simply perfection from start to finish! The staff was friendly and incredibly helpful. The food and wine were absolutely delicious. The spa was relaxing. The hotel itself, our room, and the surrounding scenery were exquisite. We loved the beautiful hotel grounds with their combination of classic herb gardens and modern sculptures. We have travelled all over the world and our stay at Steenberg was undoubtedly the best ever! Thank you dear Steenberg.....we hope to be back one day!
Vienna, Austria, Stayed July 2011, travelled with friends
Stayed with a friend on their Wine and Safari package. We both had a great time at the Lodge and the hotel. They are very attentive and are happy to arrange most anything you need. Took a helicopter tour of the cape, and had they arranged to have the chopper land us at the hotel...every amusing. The breakfasts were included and were 5*. Even the airport transfer was perfect, as they arrange all of your bags from room to check-in counter. The property itself is an old estate with a golf course and vineyard. If you are worried about an overly resort atmosphere, don’t. It is all very well put together. Oh and while it is outside Cape Town they do offer a decent shuttle service (we just rented a car and that is I would say the better option), But you the views and the quite really make up for it being just outside of town. Believe me you will not be disappointed. And for what they offer I found their prices to be very good.

Our stay was through a LuxuryLink.com package. We are so glad that we decided to stay here, even though it is in the suburbs of Cape Town. The hotel and grounds are beautiful. The staffs are attentive to your every need. We stayed in a luxury room -Medoc. It was a mini chalet with entry, large sitting area, bedroom and large bath and private patio. They offer a complimentary 30 minute shuttle each morning into Cape Town at 10:00 and pick you back up at 3:30. Also they will drop off and pick up at any restaurant within 3 miles of the hotel. There is a fabulous selection of some of Cape Town’s top restaurants within this range. But don’t miss eating dinner one evening in their restaurant Catharina’s. Also, don’t miss doing a wine tasting in their tasting room with a tapas’ style bistro. The tasting room has a breath-taking art piece hanging above the bar and beautiful sitting areas with great views. Our tasting was done sitting on a sofa by a fire and each tasting was brought over to us and explained. The Steenberg definitively earns a 5 star rating. We will return!

The hotel has great ambiance. It is cosy, charming, romantic, and peaceful...all with a very rustic feel but with all the modern amenities that one would expect to include complimentary Wi-Fi internet.
In terms of location, the hotel is not in downtown Cape Town but on the other side of the mountain. So do not stay here if all you want to see is the waterfront and downtown, although they do provide a shuttle to downtown.
I highly recommend this hotel. The staff and service was excellent. The rooms were great. And should I visit Cape Town in the future, I will look to stay here.

We had a very nice time in your hotel. Nice room, very good service, very nice location. The food and wines were super. We can not find any negative words about the hotel. Only one detail : the people at the golf were not as friendly as the ones in the hotel. We hope to return one day and stay a bit longer.

We only stayed for a couple of nights but we experienced superb service from start to finish. The grounds, buildings and views make this a wonderful place to stay. We ate in Catarinas which was excellent but relatively expensive - but in our view the bistro 1862 up at the winery was a better experience. A lively atmosphere when we went (had both a lunch and dinner there) attentive service a great food. Try a wine tasting session first - a wonderful evening.Only negative is that our room was a bit tired and the bathroom could do with some modernisation having said that would return in a flash

The highlights were incredible. We had some major celebrations while on holiday and the hotels and camps did extraordinary things. Again at the Steenberg Hotel, a Cedarberg suggestion, we found rose petals in heart shapes on the bed and a special dessert tray...all followed up by a personal letter that arrived in Toronto yesterday. Now, I ask all fellow travellers...how good does it get!? This special treatment is that much more appreciated when so far away from home and family and friends! Our return to Capetown this time was based in Constantia at the Steenberg Hotel. This is truly lovely...restored 1600's buildings with incredible people. Gillian went to extraordinary limits to help with a B.Air seating problem and then there was John who found a very special way to dim the lights on our patio. We found their restaurant, Catherina's, to totally outshine the more famous La Colombe in ambience and food.
