Year-End Breakfast Functions at Catharina’s

As the year draws to a close, thoughts turn to celebrating the end of the year that’s been and sharing excitement for that to come. Catharina’s is a favourite function venue amongst businesses in the Cape for its beautiful and tranquil setting, superior service and absolutely delicious food.

What’s more, with summer boasting gloriously warm and sun-drenched mornings under the oaks, Catharina’s has become a popular venue for year-end breakfasts.

We’re famous for our sumptuous breakfast spread – our Continental Breakfast Buffet is laden with fresh, seasonal fruits, cereals, yoghurts, smoked salmon, assorted cold meats, breads, pastries, and every condiment you could wish for, along with a wide selection of freshly squeezed fruit juices and, of course, Steenberg 1682 bubbly on ice!

Our A La Carte Breakfast Menu is packed with Chef Garth’s irresistible hot breakfasts and health options, so we recommend that you take a few minutes to make your decision. If it’s bacon you’re after, then our Traditional Breakfast, served with eggs (prepared to order), juicy sausage, crispy bacon, mushrooms, and tomato, will be sure to hit the spot. You could also try Chef Garth’s Eggs Benedict, which are often voted the best around by our guests – featuring perfectly-poached eggs atop a crisp English muffin, served with crispy bacon and drenched in hollandaise sauce. You can also get your bacon fix with our French Toast, with an English muffin, bacon, creamy Camembert cheese and thick maple syrup.

For the omelette fans, we offer the gourmet filling choice of Cheese, Tomato and Ham, Franschhoek Salmon and Shrimp, or Open Mushroom, Slow-baked Tomato and Goat’s Cheese. If you’d like something with a little kick, you have to give our Spicy Cape Malay Omelette a try – with ginger, garlic, chilli, tomato, turmeric and coriander, this omelette will leave you wanting more.

If you’d prefer something a little lighter, try our Franschhoek Smoked Salmon with scrambled eggs, sautéed spinach and dill hollandaise, or the popular Blueberry Pancakes with fresh blueberries and honey sauce anglaise. There’s also a Summer Berry Smoothie of honey, banana, low-fat milk and vanilla sorbet, recommended for those who might like a breakfast “dessert” to finish off their feast!
