Cape Town 21 January 2011: The Steenberg Hotel in Cape Town’s Constantia Valley was named the Best Luxury Hotel in Africa by www.TripAdvisor.com, the world’s largest travel site in its 2011 Travelers’ Choice awards. Lauded for its ‘excellent service and perfect mixture of old world charm and modern amenities’, Steenberg topped the list as voted by real travellers from across the globe, many of whom have frequented the hotel, and experienced its service and accommodation offering.
This follows hot on the heels of another major international accolade, where Steenberg Vineyards was voted one of nine global winners in the Great Wine Capitals Best of Wine Tourism awards, also taking top honours in South Africa in the categories of architecture, parks and gardens, as well as wine tourism services.
Trip Advisor is an internationally esteemed interactive travel website that enables travellers to plan and experience the perfect trip. Now in its ninth year, the Travelers’ Choice Awards recognize the world’s most outstanding hotels, ranging from the best bargain hotels to best luxury hotels. Unlike any other hotel awards programs in the world, TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice winners and nominees are based on the millions of real and unbiased reviews and opinions about hotels on the tripadvisor.com website, and on content from across the web. In effect, this offers a reflection of each property as experienced or perceived by potentially thousands of travellers, with choices ultimately based on the question ‘would you be willing to recommend it?’
Says proud General Manager of Steenberg Hotel, Gaby Gramm: ‘TripAdvisor’s data driven nature, scale and popularity make it a more reliable tool than any hotel star ratings. Uniquely, it offers customer wisdom and a reflection of a hotel from potentially thousands of travelers, based on the principle of whether they would recommend your hotel or product. It is an unparalleled opportunity for consumer feedback, which is a challenging area for any hotel. This marks the third year for Steenberg to feature on the coveted top ten list, but to reach TripAdvisor’s number one spot as top luxury hotel in Africa is a tribute of the highest order, and a feather in the cap for each and every one of our team. We salute them.’
