The natural beauty of the Constantia Valley is never more
enhanced than during the change of season from winter to

vineyards that frame our working wine farm.
We have created two ‘spring getaways’ to entice you to our
corner of the valley during the annual
Spring it on
Constantia Festival in October, where we will be celebrating
the onset of the season with a basket of fun-filled events.
Our popular ’Meat Free Mondays’ menu has been given a new
slant by chef Garth Almazan at Catharina’s restaurant, and
those indulging in this vegetarian fine dining menu may now
heighten the culinary experience with an optional organic
wine pairing with each dish.
On a light note, Hollywood superstar Blair Underwood dropped
in at Catharina’s recently to enjoy our Sunday Jazz Lunch
Buffet while visiting Cape Town with his family. He was so
taken with the spread that he tasted almost every dish laid
out for the buffet. We think that means we get the official
super star thumbs up!

We have had much cause to celebrate this month
with Steenberg being awarded not one, but two
prestigious accolades from international
industry players.
The first is a listing in world-renowned wine
writer Jancis Robinson’s Five Top Destinations
for the Wine Tourist. A global wine authority
and Master of Wine, with a wine-writing career
that spans back to 1975, we are especially proud
that Jancis mentioned our hotel and golf course

back after their annual break on the 7th of
September! Our trendy cellar door restaurant was
listed in Canadian Wine Access Magazine’s list
of The World’s Best Winery Restaurants. The
glowing review which describes the Bistro as ‘an
ultra-modern destination with superb bistro
dishes’, is well-deserved, and is a feather in
the cap for the cellar door restaurant, which

to re-charge their batteries
after another busy year.

revived, refreshed and filled
with new ideas and energy. Until
then, our fine dining restaurant Catharina’s is open seven days a
week to ‘fill the gap’.

ARENDA DIEDERICKS (RESERVATIONIST)
28-Year old Arenda Diedericks recently joined
Steenberg as Reservationist at our hotel. This
diligent and vibrant young lady personifies the
professionalism of our establishment, and
thrives on assisting our guests with all aspects
of their bookings for a visit to our hotel, or
to arrange a function here.
Arenda brings invaluable international
experience to her position, having worked at the
Boca West Country Club in Florida in the USA as
Reservationist for a year, before she worked in
Protea Hotels’ Head Office Central Reservations
department for two years. Arenda cites as her
greatest joy the pleasure to ‘hear the smiles’
in our guests’ voices, when arrangements for
their holiday or business trips, run 100%
