September is nature’s way of saying ‘let the party begin’,
with fields of wild flowers blossoming, along with a fresh
perspective and the promise of delightful new beginnings.
For many of us the warmer weather signifies an end to our
winter hibernation and a time to embark on new-found
adventures. Cape Town offers many secret corners to explore,
and a visit to our gracious estate with its intimate
boutique hotel and working wine farm affords a breathtaking
new outlook on the Mother City.
Why not shrug off those cobwebs and luxuriate in a ‘spring
getaway’ at Steenberg, where you may revel in our 5-star
accommodation while savouring fine cuisine at Catharina’s
Restaurant with a glass (or two) of our award-winning
Steenberg wines. Or simply recline on your own private patio
in a picturesque garden setting, surrounded by the splendour
of the vineyards, and the valley beyond. You will leave with
a spring in your step and a song in your heart. |

CECILE BRÖCKER, RESTAURANT MANAGER, CATHARINA’S
Cecile Bröcker is the very efficient, friendly
Restaurant Manager at Catharina’s, who oversees
the front of house team while ensuring that
guests are impeccably taken care of. Her
charming approach and warm demeanour is an asset
to the Catharina’s team.
Cecile Bröcker is the first ‘port of call’ for
guests arriving at Catharina’s. Her inimitable
welcome radiates a sunny disposition,
underscored by a reassuring competency that
promises a five-star dining experience.
|
At just 27 years of age, she has accrued much
valuable experience since officially launching
her restaurant management career at the Upstairs
Asian Fusion restaurant in Westlake in 2006.
Excited at the prospect of working at the famed
Catharina’s Restaurant, she joined the team here
a few months later in May 2006 as Floor Manager,
rapidly moving on to becoming Assistant
Restaurant Manager, and in 2007 was promoted to
Restaurant Manager.
A farm girl at heart, Cecile was born in Paarl
in the Western Cape, although her family moved
to a farm in Philippi when she was just a
toddler. She spent her teenage years at the Groot Constantia wine estate in Constantia,
where her father worked as resident
Viticulturist. She attributes her love for the
restaurant industry to her teenage years where
she spent her spare time helping in the kitchens
of neighbourhood restaurants close to home.
Today one of her great loves still is exploring
new restaurants and visiting ‘old favourites’ to
keep an eye on their service ethos. |
