Steenberg Vineyards is a well-known name in the Cape Town wine  industry. This historically significant farm – the oldest in the Cape – produces a range of cultivars including Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Nebbiolo, Merlot, Shiraz, Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon.

Come and taste our wines at the estate. There are a wide range of tasting venues available, from an express Tasting Bar to an Executive Tasting Room. There is also plenty of wine and food pairing options available, featuring cuisine from our celebrated restaurants – BistroSixteen82 and Catharina’s.

HMS Echo Red Blend 2009

An elegant wine with dark red fruit dominating the nose. Hints of liquorice and dark chocolate with cigar box and cedar oak round off. On the palate the wine shows elegant tannins  with great structure. Smooth, voluptuous flavours of dark chocolate and cassis with an aftertaste that echoes.

Steenberg Brut 1682 Chardonnay 2009

The Brut 1682 has aromas of fresh granny smith apples with overtones of freshly baked biscuits, and a creamy, yet fresh, mouth feel. It is a wonderful wine for all occasions, remaining crisp and refreshing on the palate without lacking fullness.

Steenberg Magna Carta 2007

Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon meet in the enticingly perfumed aromas of orange blossom and tangerine supported by a fresh minerality.  This wine’s balanced structure and firm body with hints of lanolin, gives an elegant feel on the palate.  Multiple layers of flavour coat the mouth and flow through into a lingering finish that delights and leaves you eager for the next sip.

Steenberg Brut 1682 Pinot Noir 2007

The Brut 1682 Pinot Noir with its luscious pink color has aromas of fresh strawberries, raspberries, home made brioche and a delicate mousse carried trough with an incredible palate and a lovely fresh aftertaste.

Steenberg Sauvignon Blanc 2010

The wine is dominated by lovely tropical notes of litchi and guava on the nose, fading into green pepper and asparagus as it opens up. A crisp line of acidity carries the wine beautifully, with a firm and lingering aftertaste. Great for those long summer days!

Steenberg Sauvignon Blanc Reserve 2010

Intense minerality, with hints of lime on the nose. Herbaceous notes with white asparagus and nettles. Lovely freshness on the palate with a beautiful creamy texture, that leaves the wine full and long.  This wine is a true expression of Steenberg’s terroir, and gives real meaning to sense of place.  Ready to drink now but will greatly reward a further 3-5 years cellaring.

Steenberg Semillon 2009

Light gold with green hue. Very elegant flavours of apricots and lemon peel, reflective of the cool vintage, fade into a creamy textured palette with great elegance. Subtle oaky notes give the wine dimension and depth.

Steenberg Shiraz 2008

This full bodied Shiraz is deep garnet in colour with hints of white pepper, violets, spice and vanilla on the nose. It has a firm structure, with lots of ripe berry characters on the palate and a soft velvety finish.

Steenberg Merlot 2008

This deep purple Merlot has great fruit concentration, with hints of spice, aniseed and licorice. It is multi-faceted, with blueberry and dark chocolate aromas on the nose; and black and red berry intensity on the palate. Rich but subtle oak flavours provide this wine with a long, full savory finish.

Steenberg Nebbiolo 2008

This medium bodied Nebbiolo is light in colour with strawberry preserve, dried prunes, sour cherries and forest floor on the nose.

Steenberg Catharina Red 2007

This full bodied red wine reflects a fusion of the best red varieties on Steenberg: the dark earthy tones of Cabernet, the fresh minty character of Merlot and the perfume notes of Cabernet Franc. Beautiful notes of dark cherries and mocha lead the nose with a subtle hint of aniseed. On the palate the wine delivers a complex but elegant structure, and a stunning savory character which makes you long for more.

Klein Steenberg Sauvignon Blanc 2010

This light Sauvignon Blanc is a fresh, crisp wine with lots of guava, ripe pineapple, passion fruit and a touch of fresh cut grass.

Klein Steenberg Rosé 2009

This light rosé is a fresh, dry wine, full of red and black berry flavour, with hints rose water and spice. This wine should be enjoyed in its youth and is ideal as a refreshing summer wine or aperitif.

Steenberg H.M.S. Rattlesnake Sauvignon Blanc 2010

Herbaceous notes dominate the nose, fresh asparagus and green peas, fading into ripe tropical notes. On the palate, creamy texture with typical Sauvignon freshness and lingering aftertaste.Will greatly reward cellaring over the next two years.

Steenberg H.M.S. Sphynx Chardonnay 2010

Lemongrass, lime and buttered toast on the nose. The wine shows beautiful fresh lime notes on the palate, with slight creamy, buttery notes, from the brief wood contact. The wine will develop a further creaminess with bottle aging; will reward cellaring up to 5 years.

Klein Steenberg Merlot/Cabernet Franc/Cabernet Sauvignong 2008

This easy drinking red wine is medium bodied with distinct ripe berry aromas, complemented by vanilla and gentle oaky tones. These aromas are carried through onto the palate creating a well-balanced, structured and rewarding wine.
